In the silver corner we have Adam ‘Raygun’ Regan and fellow Silver Surfer Richard Whittingham AKA DJ Dick joining forces again as they once did as Different Drummer.

In the brown corner we have Andy ‘Brown Hair’ Porteous and Steve ‘Got Brown Hair Too’ Alcock from off of Free School.

And in the other silver corner we have (Ag) from Liquid Silver records.

Adam Regan (Leftfoot) & DJ Dick (Rockers Hi-Fi)

Leftfoot was launched at The Medicine Bar (Custard Factory) in January 2000 by Adam Regan & Richard Whittingham AKA DJ Dick. Leftfoot quickly became a haven for fans of leftfield, soulful music, and guests like Kruder & Dorfmeister, Jazzanova, Fabio, Gilles Peterson & Carl Craig regularly played to crowds of 7-800 people.

In 2003, Leftfoot was voted “Best Clubnight” on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Radio Show. Lee Scratch Perry, Roots Manuva, Mr Scruff, Jazzy Jeff, Daddy G (Massive Attack) & Norman Jay all featured over the years. Never standing still and continually striving to push underground music in Birmingham and beyond, Leftfoot has recently hosted some of the hottest DJs, Producers and live acts in the country including Julio Bashmore, Gaslamp Killer, Nosaj Thing, Mount Kimbie and Horse Meat Disco, as well as developing and nurturing local talent with a team of Birmingham’s finest up and coming DJs making up the Leftfoot Residents team.

Free School

Bringing the sunny Balearic sounds of summer and the icy kosmische sounds of winter to a venue near you, Free School are maximalist and minimalist all at once. But in a good way. The Birmingham duo signed to the internationally renowned Tirk label in 2011 and have just released their critically acclaimed LP ‘Tender Administration’, following two 12” releases and a string of remixes for the likes of Roots Manuva and Phil Oakey.

As DJs they have played at the launch of Mark E’s Stonebreaker album, ThisIsTmrw clubnights and venues across Birmingham, London and, er, Hull. Expect boogie, disco, house and a whole heap of Good Times.

Liquid Silver Records is focusing on bringing out music from Birmingham’s best music producers. With previous releases from Mahs and W.Wolfe the next release will bring you the sounds of Lorenz System. Label parties bring these producers together behind the decks to really bring out their unique styles and influences which have been well received at venues like the Bull’s Head and the Hare & Hounds. With many more releases in the pipeline Liquid Silver Records is a place to watch for emerging talent.
